Now that's Magic!

Posted by Phil Mellor on 16:25, 29/11/2004 | , , , , , ,

32bit OSCastle Technology and Tematic have got RISC OS running on a new processor. This is a result of the work done by Tematic for large OEM customers in the embedded space.

The NeoMagic MiMagic 5 is a low power, small form factor multimedia processor based on the ARM 9. It's 220Mhz and has inbuilt support for vdieo and a variety of peripherals. Sounds ideal for a small portable device?

Castle will be demonstrating RISC OS 5 running on the NeoMagic MiMagic 5 at the Midlands show next weekend.

Good news for the future of RISC OS. The more processors supported by RISC OS the better.

Looks like some very good news.

Another thing that looks good is the mention of a large OEM customer, let hope they need lots of them and it leads to the creation of software that is lacking on the RISC OS side of things.
