Software showcase - MP3, ShortCut, NurseW, WakeUp

MP3 ProgramsRoger Darlington has released and updated a set of MP3 utilities. The new utilities are ID3genre, ID3TrkNo, and ID3year, which stamp attributes on MP3s, playlist generator ID3toM3U, and also MP3toWav which converts MP3s back into WAVs (useful for creating standard CDs?). The updated titles are ID3toCSV which catalogues MP3s to a CSV list, ID3toName which renames MP3 files according to their ID3 name tags, and MP3test which tests for defects at high speed. All the above can operate upon multiple files by operating in batch-mode. Finally there's Twicers that finds possible duplicates in a collection of MP3s. The utilities are available from Roger's web site - click the Downloads link in the bottom left.

Matthew Price has made minor bug fixes to his application shortcut generator (which works in the same way as adding to Apps) and his ADFS floppy disc image writer (useful for using emulator disc images with native RISC OS). ShortCut and Image can be obtained Archez's downloads section.

NurseW is a macro inserter for the Dr Wimp programming library. Graeme Wall's updated version allows functions and procedures from Dr Wimp v3.90 to be entered at the click of a button, and a new facility has been added to the icons window too. Available from here.

Finally we have WakeUp from Dave Higton. It should enable your RISC OS computer to wake up computers on your LAN that support wake on LAN. Unfortunately no RISC OS computer can be woken up in such a way, but you could use it to wake up your PC. SecureOn passwords are supported, and the program should work on all versions of RISC OS from 3 to 5. Get it from Dave's website.
