You know, it looks kind of good.

[Edited by ad at 00:12, 20/8/2008. Link is getting caught out by drobe.co.uk hot linking protection, so I've attached the image]

It's no cockmonkey.gif, that's for sure.

Dare I ask what a "cockmonkey.gif" is?

Or will I regret it for the rest of my life? shock

Somebody puts up a generic image which will replace any image hotlinked to, as has happened here. Some mean-spirited people don't just put up a polite notice, they put some rather offensive or humorous graphics or messages, so that the hotlinker looks like a prat for posting pr0n etc. After all, you would have looked silly for posting a topic about Virtual RISC OS and showing a picture from goatse.cx or something. There are some good examples on the internet.

EDIT: for example,

http://someinterweb.com/?p=10
http://wizbangblog.com/content/2005/05/21/web-etiquette-f.php

There was one blog somewhere where a guy was hosting a really popular image, and he had a gallery of hotlinkers where he had changed the image to something a little more, uh, raunchy, and then taken snapshots of the resulting webpages. But you get the idea.

I'm afraid (or perhaps glad?) that the cockmonkey.gif being talked about here isn't quite as exciting as that.

The guy whose link I couldn't find had specially-crafted each hotlink picture for its stolen context. If it was on a MySpace profile, he made social comments and pictures of whatever the poster professed to hate. It was quite an art form big smile

Mine is fundamentally boring (although TIB is of course on my exceptions list):
