Worthwhile if only to be able to play Cave Story on RISC OS. I'll try getting this up and running. |

Would a port of RetroArch be feasible/worthwhile? Yes it would and it is. I've only tried the Sega Megadrive emulation so far. I'm getting a constant 60fps on a Pandaboard. I'll make a test version available shortly. A test version of GenesisPlus is available at http://www.cgransden.co.uk/genesisplus.zip . It will only run on Raspberry Pi and Beagleboard or Pandaboard based hardware.
In other emulator news.
So far I've got Prboom, vba and imame4all up and running with retroarch. I'll upload test versions of these as well. Possibly of interest, imame4all is based on an earlier version of mame which has much lower resource requirements. It runs a lot more games at full speed on a Beagleboard xM. The retroarch frontend seems to be much more efficient at running the emulations. It looks like most of them run well on a Beagleboard xM/ARMini.
Also I've got a armv7 enhanced version of DosBox. It runs about 50% faster on a Pandaboard than the previous version. I can upload this if there is any interest. The sound is much improved too. Fronter: Elite 2 and ElitePlus will run on this.

A release of DOSbox would certainly be appreciated, assuming it is moderately usable - would provide an alternative to PC card for running old DOS stuff for modern users. |

I've added Final Burn Alpha to the list. It's a CPS1/2 Arcade board emulator. Again it gets a constant 60fps on a Pandaboard. |

Would anyone who uses some of these emulators be willing to come along to ROUGOL(*) and give a demo of them? Give some background on how to get games into them, common problems, copy protection issues, how do saves work, etc.
Of course if you do this on RISC OS that would be ideal, but I assume most of the info would apply regardless of host platform. Beeb emulation would also be particularly relevant.
We already have Jon Abbott, of ADFFS fame, coming along in September so covering emulators in the August or October meeting would fit nicely.
Thanks, Bryan.

In case people haven't seen it, there's an Alpha release of ArcEm 1.50 newly available on the ArcEm site: http://arcem.sourceforge.net/ |

* RISC OS User Group Of London, other user groups are available Sorry to hijack this with a plug for Bristol... I'm sure that between me and the other (admittedly few) members of the Bristol RISC OS Users, we can extend this invitation further west.
While we can't (yet) offer a suitably-sized audience, we could suggest the possibility of future talks at the upcoming Raspberry Jam - which might attract new members. We'd also be happy to propose a more suitable venue than the bar of a pub... e.g. perhaps a pub function room! |

It'd be nice to be able to add this to the ARMv7 compatibility list, especially as the currently entered version has the note "Sound isn't 100%".
