Audio news quickie

André Timmermans, author of DigitalCD, has released an update to his tracker music playing module TimPlayer. The new version adds support for several new tracker file formats, as well as including many other changes and fixes.

Meanwhile, RISC OS Open have secured permission to release the SharedSound module. This should improve the situation regarding sound support for owners of modern ARMv7 powered RISC OS systems.

That's great news !
The sound is superb, it's easy to use.
I'm really happy to have this kind of apps on RISC OS.

There is an extra feature I'd be very happy to see added : the ability to load zipped files, letting the player decompress them.

It would save a lot of space on hard drives.
(Yes I know I could burn a CD)

Anyway, a big thank you to the author. Great job !

I'm trying to have some plug ins working but to no avail.
I've copied them in !DCDRes, creating the directories PlugIns and inside it FullScreen for example as needed for Cthugha, but to no avail.

I've double clicked on !DCDRes.
Checking the documentation it says the directories PlugIns and PlugIns.Desktop + PlugIns.FullScreen should have been created but well, no.

'Misc' in the control panel of !DigitalCD displays 'Start plug-in' and 'Stop plug-in' as not available.(greyed)

Middle click on the !DigitalCD icon on the iconbar, 'Choices...' displays a window where 'Plug-ins' show 'Samplers' and nothing more.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using an Iyonix.

Fairly unnecessary on RISC OS with its image file access to zips as if they are directories anyway.

Well, it's an extra double click ... (ok I'm lazy).

True, but it would save an extra double-click. Consider a directory full of zipfiles containing just one tune each (which is probably how they are distributed on the internet) rather than zipfiles containing numerous tunes.

Thanks. It's exactly why I'd have been happy to see this new feature added.

Could you try to install some plug ins on your machines and tell me if they work ?
thanks in advance.

clicking on 'Plug-ins' gives me the choice of desktop or full-screen plug-ins, also enable plug-ins

I have just noticed that the latest DigitalCD is: DigitalCD 3.03 (27-Sep-2011) on the downloads page!
